J 24319-B Universal Steering Linkage Puller

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  3. Remove the stabilizer shaft link. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement .
  4. Remove the exhaust pipe.
  5. Remove the power steering gear heat shield. Refer to Steering Gear Heat Shield Replacement in Power Steering System.
  6. Remove the outer tie rods retaining nuts.

  7. Object Number: 643351  Size: SH
  8. Install J 24319-B to the steering knuckle.
  9. Using J 24319-B separate the outer tie rod from the steering knuckle.
  10. Disconnect the brake line clip from the frame.
  11. Disconnect the road sensor suspension link from the lower control arm ball stud.

  12. Object Number: 104995  Size: SH
  13. Remove the stabilizer shaft insulator brackets retaining bolts.
  14. Remove the stabilizer shaft brackets.
  15. Remove the stabilizer shaft insulators.
  16. Turn the left steering knuckle to the left, and guide the stabilizer shaft half out the right side of the vehicle in an upward direction, then remove the stabilizer shaft out the bottom center of the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the stabilizer shaft to the vehicle.

  2. Object Number: 104995  Size: SH
  3. Install the stabilizer shaft insulators.
  4. Install the stabilizer shaft brackets.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the stabilizer shaft bracket bolts.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the stabilizer shaft bracket bolts to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).

  8. Install the stabilizer shaft links. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement .
  9. Install the outer tie rods to steering knuckles.
  10. Install the outer tie rods retaining nuts.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the tie rod end to knuckle nut to 10 N·m (88 lb ft).

  12. Connect the brake line clip to the frame.
  13. Connect the road sensing suspension link to the lower control arm.
  14. Install the power steering gear heat shield. Refer to Steering Gear Heat Shield Replacement in Power Steering System.
  15. Install the engine exhaust pipe.
  16. Install the front tires and wheels. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  17. Lower the vehicle.
