    • J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure

  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Loosen the evaporator hose fitting at the expansion tube location.

  3. Object Number: 284232  Size: SH
  4. Using J 38042 , separate the evaporator hose.

  5. Object Number: 1215230  Size: SH
  6. Remove the expansion tube from the evaporator hose.
  7. Remove and discard the O-ring from the evaporator hose. Refer to O-Ring Replacement .

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the new O-ring to the evaporator hose. Refer to O-Ring Replacement .
  2. Install the expansion tube to the evaporator hose.

  3. Object Number: 284232  Size: SH
  4. Connect the evaporator hose.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Tighten the evaporator hose nut.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  8. Position the evaporator hose to the original position.
  9. Recharge the refrigerant system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  10. Leak test the fittings using the J 39400-A .
