J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 130638  Size: SH
  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Remove the suction hose nut from the accumulator.

  3. Object Number: 284234  Size: SH
  4. Remove the suction hose from the accumulator.

  5. Object Number: 291167  Size: SH
  6. Remove the evaporator hose nut from the accumulator.
  7. Remove the evaporator hose from the accumulator.
  8. Remove and discard the sealing washers from the suction hose and the evaporator hose. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement .

  9. Object Number: 130654  Size: SH
  10. Release the accumulator retainer.
  11. Remove the accumulator from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

    Important: If replacing the accumulator, add the refrigerant oil to the accumulator. Refer to Refrigerant System Capacities for system capacity information.

  1. Install the accumulator.
  2. Engage the accumulator retainer.

  3. Object Number: 291167  Size: SH
  4. Install new sealing washers to the suction hose and the evaporator hose. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement .
  5. Install the evaporator hose to the accumulator.
  6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Install the evaporator hose nut to the accumulator.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  9. Install the suction hose to the accumulator.

  10. Object Number: 130638  Size: SH
  11. Install the suction hose nut to the accumulator.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  13. Recharge the refrigerant system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  14. Leak test the fittings using the J 39400-A .
