J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 130640  Size: SH
  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Remove the upper filler panel. Refer to Filler Panel Replacement - Upper in Body Front End.
  3. Remove the discharge hose nut from the condenser.
  4. Remove the discharge hose from the condenser.
  5. Raise and support vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  6. Remove the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement in Body Front End.

  7. Object Number: 130643  Size: SH
  8. Remove the discharge hose nut from the compressor.
  9. Remove the discharge hose from the compressor.
  10. Disconnect the electrical connector from the A/C refrigerant pressure sensor.
  11. Remove the discharge hose from the vehicle.
  12. Remove and discard the sealing washers from the discharge hose. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement .

Installation Procedure

  1. Install new sealing washers to the discharge hose. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 130643  Size: SH
  3. Install the discharge hose to the vehicle.
  4. Install the discharge hose to the compressor.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the discharge hose nut to the compressor.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  8. Connect the electrical connector to the A/C refrigerant pressure sensor.
  9. Lower the vehicle.

  11. Install the discharge hose to the condenser.
  12. Install the discharge hose nut to the condenser.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  14. Recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  15. Leak test the fittings using the J 39400-A .
  16. Install the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement in Body Front End.
  17. Install the upper filler panel. Refer to Filler Panel Replacement - Upper in Body Front End.
