Removal Procedure

Tools Required

    • J 39500-B A/C Refrigerant Recovery, Recycling and Recharging System
    • J 37097-A Hose Clamp Remover/Installer
  1. Fully extend the telescopic steering column.

  2. Object Number: 130636  Size: SH
  3. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System .
  4. Recover the refrigerant from the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  5. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
  6. Remove the console. Refer to Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  7. Remove the instrument panel assembly. Refer to Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement in Instrument Panel, Console and Gauges.
  8. Disconnect the evaporator hose assembly from the evaporator core.
  9. Disconnect the inlet heater hose from heater core. Refer to Heater Hoses Replacement .
  10. Disconnect the outlet heater hose from the heater core. Refer to Heater Hoses Replacement .

  12. Remove the defroster air outlet. Refer to Defroster Air Outlet Replacement .

  13. Object Number: 284240  Size: SH
  14. Remove the heater duct retaining screws.
  15. Partially remove the heater duct.
  16. Disconnect the temperature sensors from the heater duct.
  17. Remove the heater duct.

  19. Disconnect HVAC electrical harness from the HVAC module assembly.

  20. Object Number: 130657  Size: SH
  21. Remove the heater and evaporator module retaining nuts.
  22. Remove the heater and evaporator module assembly.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 130657  Size: SH
  1. Install the heater and evaporator module assembly.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the heater and evaporator module retaining nuts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the heater and A/C module retaining nuts to 13 N·m (10 lb ft).

  5. Install the HVAC electrical harness to the HVAC module assembly.
  6. Connect the temperature sensors to the heater duct.

  7. Object Number: 284240  Size: SH
  8. Install the heater duct.
  9. Install the heater duct retaining screws.

  10. Object Number: 305758  Size: SH
  11. Install the defroster air outlet. Refer to Defroster Air Outlet Replacement .
  12. Install the outlet heater hose to the heater core. Refer to Heater Hoses Replacement .
  13. Install the inlet heater hose to the heater core. Refer to Heater Hoses Replacement .
  14. Connect the evaporator hose assembly to the evaporator core.
  15. Tighten
    Tighten the evaporator hose assembly to 18 N·m (13 lb ft)

  16. Install the instrument panel assembly. Refer to Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement in Instrument Panel, Console and Gauges.
  17. Install the console. Refer to Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  18. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
  19. Recharge the refrigerant system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
  20. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
