Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement LHD
Removal Procedure
- Raise the vehicle and suitably support. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the rear tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
in Tires
and Wheels.
- Pull down on the park
brake cable near the park brake connector (1).
- Disconnect the left rear park brake cable (2) from the
rear equalizer (1).
- Disconnect the right rear park brake cable (5) from the
intermediate park brake cable (3).
- Remove the right (5) or left (2) rear park brake
cables from their connectors by depressing the retaining tabs on the cable
housings and pulling the cables out of the brackets.
- Disconnect the park brake
cables from the park brake levers.
- Remove the left and/or right park brake cables from the brake
caliper park brake cable brackets by depressing the retainer tabs.
- Remove the rear park brake cable.
Installation Procedure
- Install both park brake
cables (2), (5) into their brackets by snapping them into place.
- Connect the intermediate park brake cable (3) to the equalizer (1).
- Connect the right rear park brake cable (5) to the intermediate
park brake cable (3).
- Install the right and/or
left cable (1) into the brake caliper park brake cable brackets by
snapping into place.
- Connect the park brake cables to the park brake levers.
- Pull on the intermediate park brake cable (3).
- Install the park brake intermediate cable (3).
- Install the rear tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
in Tires
and Wheels.
- Lower the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement RHD
Removal Procedure
- Raise the vehicle and suitably support. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the rear tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
in Tire
and Wheels.
- Loosen the park brake
cable from the adjuster.
- Pull down on the park
brake cable near the park brake connector (1).
- Disconnect the left rear park brake cable (2) from the
rear equalizer (1).
- Disconnect the right rear park brake cable (5) from the
intermediate park brake cable (3).
- Remove the right (5) or left (2) rear park brake
cables from their connectors by depressing the retaining tabs on the cable
housings and pulling the cables out of the brackets.
- Disconnect the park brake
cables from the park brake levers.
- Remove the left and/or right park brake cables from the brake
caliper park brake cable brackets by depressing the retainer tabs.
- Remove the rear park brake cable.
Installation Procedure
- Install both
park brake cables (2), (5) into their brackets by snapping them
into place.
- Connect the intermediate park brake cable (3) to the equalizer (1).
- Connect the right rear park brake cable (5) to the intermediate
park brake cable (3).
- Install the right and/or
left cable (1) into the brake caliper park brake cable brackets by
snapping into place.
- Connect the park brake cables to the park brake levers.
- Pull on the intermediate park brake cable (3).
- Install the park brake intermediate cable (3).
- Adjust the park brake cable. Refer to
Park Brake Adjustment
.
- Install the rear tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
in Tires
and Wheels.
- Lower the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
