Installation Procedure
Important: All gasket surfaces should be free of oil or other foreign material during assembly.
The alignment of the structural oil pan is critical. The rear bolt hole locations of the oil pan provide mounting points
for the flywheel housing cover. To ensure the rigidity of the powertrain it is important that the rear of the block and the rear of the oil pan are flush or even. The rear of the oil pan must NEVER protrude beyond the engine block .
- Install a new oil pan gasket on the oil manifold plate.
- Position the oil pan to the crankcase.
- The oil pan must be held flush to 0.50 mm (0.020 in) forward of the rear face of the engine block.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the oil pan retaining bolts.
Tighten
• | First Pass: Tighten the oil pan bolts to 15 N·m (11 lb ft). |
• | Final Pass: Tighten the oil pan bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft). |
- Install the oil drain plug.
Tighten
Tighten the oil drain plug to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
Notice: Refer to Component Fastener Tightening Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the engine oil level sensor (1) into the oil pan.
Tighten
Tighten the engine oil level sensor to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
- Connect the electrical connector (2) to the engine oil level sensor (1).
- Install the automatic transmission fluid cooler lines . Refer to
Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Replacement
in Automatic Transmission - 5L50 - E.
- Install a NEW engine oil filter.
Tighten
Tighten the engine oil filter to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).
- Install the front suspension crossmember to the vehicle. Refer to
