Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.

  3. Object Number: 1151968  Size: SH
  4. Disengage the generator cooling hose clamp at the radiator.
  5. Disconnect the generator cooling hose (1) from the radiator.
  6. Lower the vehicle.
  7. Remove the accessory drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement - Accessory.

  9. Remove the generator cooling hose assembly to generator bolt.
  10. Disconnect the generator cooling hose assembly from the generator.

  11. Object Number: 1198510  Size: SH
  12. Disconnect the generator cooling hose from the water pump. Refer to Generator Cooling Pipe/Hose Quick Connect Fitting.
  13. Remove the generator cooling hose assembly from the vehicle.
  14. Remove and discard the seal washers.

Installation Procedure

    Important: Flat washer type seals do not require lubrication.

  1. Inspect the new seal washer for any signs of cracks, cuts, or damage.
  2. Do not use a damaged seal washer.

    Important: The seal washer must completely bottom against the surface of the fitting.

  3. Using a lint-free clean, dry cloth, clean the sealing surfaces at the generator and generator cooling hose assembly.
  4. Carefully install the new seal washers onto the generator cooling hose assembly.

  5. Install the generator cooling hose assembly to the vehicle.

  7. Connect the generator cooling hose to the water pump. Refer to Generator Cooling Pipe/Hose Quick Connect Fitting.
  8. Connect the generator cooling hose assembly to the generator.

  9. Object Number: 1198501  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  10. Install the generator cooling hose assembly to generator bolt.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  12. Install the accessory drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement - Accessory.
  13. Raise and support the vehicle.

  14. Object Number: 1151968  Size: SH
  15. Connect the generator cooling hose (1) to the radiator.
  16. Engage the generator cooling hose clamp at the radiator.
  17. Lower the vehicle.
  18. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling.
