Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls - 4.6L (LH2).
  2. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 4.6L (LH2).
  3. Remove the drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 4.6L (LH2).
  4. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling.
  5. Remove the water pump bolts.

  6. Object Number: 1201096  Size: SH
  7. Remove the water pump pulley from the water pump.
  8. Remove the water pump from the engine front cover.
  9. Remove the water pump gasket and discard.
  10. Clean and inspect the water pump. Refer to Water Pump Cleaning and Inspection in Engine Mechanical - 4.6L (LH2).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the water pump pulley to the water pump.

  2. Object Number: 1201096  Size: SH
  3. Install the water pump and gaskets to the engine front cover.
  4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Install the water pump pulley bolts to the water pump.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the water pump pulley bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  7. Install the water pump bolts.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the water pump bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  9. Install the drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 4.6L (LH2).
  10. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Controls - 4.6L (LH2).
  11. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling.
  12. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls - 4.6L (LH2).
