Removal Procedure
Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing
any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to
the vehicle or its components.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Remove the I/P carrier. Refer to
Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement
.
- Carefully lift the head-up display (HUD) electrical harness from between
the instrument panel cluster (IPC) and the HUD.
- Disconnect the HUD electrical connector from the IPC.
- Remove the retaining screws that secure the
IPC to the steering column bracket.
- Raise the rear of the IPC slightly to release the locator tab. Reposition
the IPC to access the retaining screw that secures the HUD to the steering column
bracket.
- Loosen the retaining screw that secures the
HUD to the steering column bracket.
- Remove the HUD retaining nuts.
- Remove the HUD from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Transfer the retaining screw and nut to the replacement
HUD.
- Install the HUD to the vehicle:
2.1. | Install the HUD onto the dash panel mounting studs. |
2.2. | Slide the HUD retaining screw into the slot on the steering column bracket. |
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the HUD retaining nuts.
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 5 N·m (44 lb in).
- Tighten the screw that retains the HUD to the steering column bracket.
Tighten
Tighten the screw to 3 N·m (27 lb in).
- Install the retaining screws that secure the
IPC to the steering column bracket .
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 3 N·m (27 lb in).
- Connect the HUD electrical connector to the IPC.
- Carefully secure the HUD electrical harness (1) down between the
IPC and the HUD as shown.
- Install the I/P carrier. Refer to
Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement
.
- Connect the negative battery cable.
Tighten
Tighten the cable bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).
