Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  2. Turn the headlamp switch to the HEAD position.
  3. Place the headlamp dimmer switch to the HIGH position.
  4. Verify that the high beam headlamps operate properly.

Do the high beams operate properly?

Go to Step 3

Go to Headlamps Inoperative - High Beams

  1. Disconnect the BCM connector C2.
  2. Probe the flash-to-pass switch signal circuit of the BCM C2 connector with a test lamp that is connected to battery positive voltage.
  3. Pull and hold the Flash-to-Pass switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 8

  1. Disconnect the multifunction switch connector
  2. Probe the ground circuit of the multifunction switch with a test lamp that is connected to battery positive voltage.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 6

Repair an open or high resistance in the ground circuit of the multifunction switch. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 9

Test for a poor connection, open or short to battery positive voltage in the flash to pass signal circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 9

Replace the multifunction switch. Refer to Turn Signal Multifunction Switch Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 9

Important: Perform the setup procedure for the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Computer/Integrating Systems.

Replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Computer/Integrating Systems.

  1. Connect all connectors and components that were disconnected.
  2. Verify that the flash to pass system operates properly.

Does the flash to pass system operate properly?

System OK

Go to Step 2
