Open each door.

Does the exterior courtesy lamps illuminate for each door?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Open the drivers door.

Does the interior courtesy lamps operate normally?

Go to Step 4

Go to Courtesy Lamps Inoperative

Are both exterior courtesy lamps inoperative?

Go to Step 9

  1. Disconnect the inoperative exterior courtesy lamp from the door module.
  2. Install a fused jumper between battery positive voltage and the exterior courtesy lamp voltage supply circuit.

Does the exterior courtesy lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 8

Repair a poor connection, open or a short to ground in the exterior courtesy lamp voltage supply circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 10

Repair a poor connection, open or a short to battery positive voltage in the exterior lamps ground circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Replace the inoperative door module. Refer to Door Control Module Replacement in Doors.

Important: Perform the setup procedure for the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Computer/Integrating Systems.
