DEFINITION: Use this chart if either the front or the rear fog lamp is inoperative.

Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Turn the ignition to the ON position, with the engine OFF.
  2. Turn the headlamp switch to the PARK position.
  3. Turn the fog lamps to the ON position.

Do both fog lamps illuminate?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Did only one lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 11

  1. Remove the fog lamp relay.
  2. Install a jumper between the fog lamp relay control circuit and the switched fog lamp voltage supply circuit.
  3. Turn the ignition to the ON position.
  4. Turn the fog lamps to the ON position.

Do the fog lamps illuminate?

Go to Step 12

  1. Remove the jumper.
  2. Install a 15A fused jumper between battery positive voltage and the switched fog lamp voltage supply circuit.

Do the fog lamps illuminate?

Test for a poor connection, open or a short to ground in the switched fog lamp voltage supply circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 17

  1. Remove the jumper.
  2. Reinstall the fog lamp relay.
  3. Disconnect the BCM connector C1.
  4. Install a fused jumper between battery positive voltage and the fog lamp relay control circuit.

Do the fog lamps illuminate?

Test for a poor connection, open or a short to ground in the fog lamp relay control circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 17

  1. Reconnect the BCM connector C1.
  2. Disconnect the BCM connector C2.
  3. Using a test lamp connected to battery positive voltage, probe the fog lamp switch signal circuit.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 16

Test the fog lamp switch signal circuit for a poor connection, open or a short to battery positive voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 17

Repair the open or high resistance in the inoperative fog lamp voltage supply or ground circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Test for a poor connection or an open in the ground circuit of the fog lamp relay. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Replace the multifunction switch. Refer to Turn Signal Multifunction Switch Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.

Replace the fog lamp relay. Refer to Relay Replacement in Wiring Systems.

Replace the underhood fuse block. Refer to Underhood Electrical Center or Junction Block Replacement in Wiring Systems.

Important: Perform the setup procedure for the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Computer/Integrating Systems.

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
