Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Turn the ignition to the ON position.
  2. Turn the headlamp switch to the PARK position.
  3. Turn the dimmer/HUD switch to a high position.

Are all the I/P lamps ON?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Are all of the I/P lamps inoperative?

Go to Step 4

  1. Remove the dimmer/HUD switch.
  2. Using a test lamp connected to battery positive voltage, probe the dimmer/HUD switch ground circuit.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 6

  1. Reconnect the dimmer/HUD switch.
  2. Disconnect the I/P cluster C3.
  3. Install a jumper between the dimmer/HUD switch ground circuit and ground.
  4. Using a test lamp connected to battery positive voltage, probe the I/P dimmer select switch circuit.
  5. Press the dim set select switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 8

Test for a short to battery positive voltage, an open or a poor connection in the I/P dimmer select switch circuit of the dimmer/HUD switch. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Using a test lamp connected to battery positive voltage, probe the I/P lamps dimmer switch down signal circuit.
  2. Press the dim set down switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Test for a short to battery positive voltage, an open or a poor connection in the I/P lamps dimmer switch down signal circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Using a test lamp connected to battery positive voltage, probe the I/P lamps dimmer switch up signal circuit.
  2. Press the dim up switch.
