Removal Procedure

Important: The replacement TCM MUST be programmed. Refer to Service Programming System (SPS) in Programming.

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the right front wheelhouse panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Filler Replacement in Body Front End.
  3. Remove the engine control module (ECM) bracket.
  4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the transmission control module (TCM).
  5. Remove the fasteners securing the transmission control Module (TCM) to the engine control module (ECM) bracket.
  6. Remove the transmission control module (TCM).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the transmission control module (TCM) to the engine control module (ECM) bracket.
  2. Install the transmission control module (TCM) fasteners to the bracket.
  3. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  4. Connect the electrical connector to the transmission control module (TCM).
  5. Install the engine control module (ECM) bracket.
  6. Install the engine control module (ECM) bracket fasteners.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  8. Install the wheelhouse panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Filler Replacement in Body Front End.
  9. If a new TCM is being installed, program the ECM. Refer to Service Programming System (SPS) in Programming.
  10. Lower the vehicle.
