Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check?

Depress the brake pedal.

Do all of the stop lamps illuminate?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Is only one lamp inoperative?

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 4

  1. Disconnect the BCM connector C4
  2. Install a fused jumper between battery positive voltage and the switched stop lamps voltage supply circuit.

Do the stop lamps illuminate?

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 5

Repair a short to ground, an open or a poor connection in the switched stop lamps voltage supply circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 8

Repair the open or poor connection in the voltage supply or ground circuit of the inoperative lamp.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 8

Important: After replacing the BCM. Perform the setup procedure. Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Computer/Integrating Systems.

Replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Computer/Integrating Systems.
