The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
When performing a diagnostic check, you may notice that the power folding convertible top hydraulic fluid may have a dark appearance and may appear to be burnt (like distressed transmission fluid )
Recommendation/Instructions:
When new, the power folding top hydraulic fluid is golden clear. As the system is cycled, it picks up the carbon black from the numerous o-ring seals used in the system. The carbon black acts like a dye and causes the fluid to darken considerably and
take on an black appearance. This is a normal occurrence and no repair attempts should be performed, as replacement fluid will also darken.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
