Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

Open the instrument panel (I/P) compartment.

Does the I/P compartment lamp turn ON?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Do the courtesy lamps operate properly?

Go to Step 4

Go to Courtesy Lamps Inoperative

  1. Disconnect the I/P compartment lamp switch connector. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Lamp Switch Replacement .
  2. Connect a test lamp between the I/P compartment lamp voltage supply circuit and the I/P compartment lamp ground circuit.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 6

Test the I/P compartment lamp voltage supply circuit for an open, high resistance, or short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 9

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the I/P compartment lamp. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Locate and repair an open or high resistance in the I/P compartment lamp ground circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Replace the I/P compartment lamp switch. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Lamp Switch Replacement .

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
