Circuit Description

The folding top control (FTC) module checks the integrity of the signal circuit from the rear compartment lid pulldown actuator at least once every 300 milliseconds. The rear compartment lid pulldown actuator has a constant battery positive voltage supplied. During truck or folding top operation, the rear compartment lid pulldown actuator will apply the battery positive voltage to the FTC module. The FTC uses this signal as assurance that the latch is clear of the striker.

DTC Descriptor

This diagnostic procedure supports the following DTC:

DTC B1297 Trunk Unlatched Signal Circuit

Conditions for Running the DTC

    • The battery voltage is between 9-16 volts.
    • DTC B1327 is not currently set.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

    • If the FTC module detects a short to battery in the rear compartment pulldown actuator circuit when the rear compartment lid is not ajar.
    • If the FTC module detects an open in the rear compartment pulldown actuator circuit for more than 5 seconds when the rear compartment lid is ajar.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

    • Stores a current and history DTC B3641 in the FTC module.
    • The rear compartment lid pulldown feature and folding top operation shall be suspended until the fault is corrected.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • This DTC will clear on the current status after the condition for setting the fault is corrected.
    • A history DTC will clear after 50 consecutive ignition cycles without a fault present.
    • History and current DTC can be cleared using the scan tool.

Diagnostic Aids

    • Manual operation of the rear compartment lid may cause DTC B1297 to set.
    • A fault which allows the rear compartment lid to release, but does not allow normal folding top function, will set a DTC B1297. Refer to Symptoms - Roof .
