The electronically operated fuel filler door can be manually opened by pulling on the manual release cable. The location is in the rear compartment driver side rear inner wheelhouse side trim.

1. Remove the wheelhouse liner panel. Refer to Rear Wheelhouse Panel Liner Replacement .



2. Open the fuel door and remove the nut (1) attaching the fuel door release cable to the fuel pocket.
3. Remove the driver side rear compartment trim. Refer to Rear Compartment Side Trim Replacement - Left Side .



4. Remove the bolt (1) securing the actuator.
5. Disconnect the electrical connector.



6. Disconnect the manual release cable (1).




Important: Due to removal accessibility of the fuel door release cable, leave the fuel door release cable in the vehicle if undamaged and replace the actuator only.

7. Disconnect the fuel door release cable from the actuator (1).
8. Remove the actuator.

1. Position the actuator.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

2. Install the bolt (1) attaching the actuator.

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

3. Connect the electrical connector (1).



4. Connect the manual release cable (1).



5. Connect the fuel door release cable to the actuator (1).



6. Install the bolt (1) attaching the actuator.

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

7. Install the cable to the fuel pocket.



8. Install the nut (1) attaching the door release cable to the fuel filler pocket.

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

9. Install the driver side rear compartment trim. Refer to Rear Compartment Side Trim Replacement - Left Side .
10. Install the wheelhouse liner panel. Refer to Rear Wheelhouse Panel Liner Replacement .
