DEFINITION: The DIC always displays low washer fluid or does not display anything with low washer fluid.

Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

Verify the fault is present.

Does the system operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the windshield washer fluid level switch connector.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Wait 60 seconds.

Does the driver information center (DIC) display low washer fluid?

Go to Step 6

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Connect a fused jumper wire from the windshield washer fluid level signal circuit terminal in the washer fluid level switch connector to a good ground.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Wait 60 seconds.

Does the DIC display low washer fluid?

Go to Step 5

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Connect a fused jumper wire across the windshield washer fluid level switch harness connector terminals.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Wait 60 seconds.

Does the DIC display low washer fluid?

Go to Step 9

Test the windshield washer fluid level signal circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 13

Test the windshield washer fluid level signal circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the washer fluid level switch ground circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 13

Inspect for poor connections at the windshield washer fluid level switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and to Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 13

Replace the windshield washer fluid level switch. Refer to Windshield Washer Solvent Level Switch Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Inspect for poor connections at the instrument panel cluster (IPC). Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and to Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 13

Replace the IPC. Refer to Control Module References in Computer/Integrating Systems for replacement, setup, and programming.
