Removal Procedure

Important: The replacement transmission control module (TCM) MUST be programmed. Refer to Service Programming System (SPS) .

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the right front wheelhouse panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Filler Replacement .
  3. Remove the engine control module (ECM) bracket.
  4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the TCM.
  5. Remove the fasteners securing the TCM to the ECM bracket.
  6. Remove the TCM.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the TCM to the ECM bracket.
  2. Install the TCM fasteners to the bracket.
  3. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  4. Connect the electrical connector to the TCM.
  5. Install the ECM bracket.
  6. Install the ECM bracket fasteners.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  8. Install the wheelhouse panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Filler Replacement .
  9. If a new TCM is being installed, program the ECM. Refer to Service Programming System (SPS) .
  10. Lower the vehicle.
