Radio May Display CDX Error or CDs Will Not Load- kw accessory CD changer display DTC electrical information inoperative lock navigation operation performance power

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom described in the PI.

A condition has been found that will cause the CD player to reject any attempt to input a compact disc into the player and the radio will display "CDX ERROR". All other radio functions such as Steering Wheel Controls, volume, displays etc. work properly. If the OnStar buttons are used, the system will also operate as designed. The CD changer can be heard cycling when attempting to insert a CD. The radio will communicate with the Tech 2. There may be DTCs present in the radio. U1000, U1128, U1017, B2463, or B1259 stored has current or history are typical. This condition can be duplicated on every attempt to insert a CD.

There is a white shipping plug that should be removed from the bottom of the CD changer before installing into the vehicle. This is a shipping plug which may not have been removed prior to installation into the vehicle.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance.
