When retrieving and viewing the Tech 2® Freeze Frame and Failure Records data from the vehicle control module for the DTCs mentioned in this bulletin, DTC P0606 (Control Module Internal Performance) may have set falsely. The following steps should be followed for a DTC P0606:

    • The DTCs Freeze Frame and Failure Record information should be recorded for each of the stored DTCs, followed by a DTC clear command. This stored data can be used to later root cause the other DTCs which are genuine.
    • The vehicle should be driven on a suitable driving cycle for the DTCs that were stored (idle, steady state cruise, etc.) to see if any of the non-P0606 DTCs or P0606 reappears.
    • If P0606 reappears after using the Tech2® to retrieve and view the Tech 2® Freeze Frame and Failure Records data from the vehicle control module for one of the DTCs mentioned in this bulletin, then for this special case, DTC P0606 should be ignored, as it is being falsely set. DTCs that reappear, or new DTCs, should be root caused along with the original DTCs present in the ECM.
    • If DTC P0606 reappears without the Tech2® communicating to the ECM (as described in the scenario above), DTC P0606 is probably genuine and normal diagnostic procedure for DTC P0606 should be followed.
