Front Door Contacts Fender at High Ambient Temperatures - keywords body chip contact door fender heat hot left paint right

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Some customers may comment that either the left or right door contacts the fender when opening after the car has been exposed to high ambient temperatures or when parked in the sun. This is caused by the Fender and door panels expanding when hot.

Adjust fender so that it is 1-2 mm outboard from the door. This will allow the door to pass behind the fender when opened.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
