Power Steering at High Pressure Hose Connection to Pump - keywords fluid gear hose low noise oil pump steer washer

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

If a leak is determined to be present at the high pressure hose connection to the power steering pump the cause may have been that the bolt has been over torqued. It is a "Banjo Bolt" type connection that uses two flat copper washers for sealing. If the bolt is over torqued the washers can distort and create a leak path. If a leak is detected at this joint replace both washes and torque the bolt to the published spec which is 27 Nm or 20 lb ft. The washers are available separately as part number 11518495.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
