Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) Inoperative after BCM Replacement - keywords body fuse module program replace sensing

Subject:Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) Inoperative after BCM Replacement

Models:2004-2006 Cadillac XLR

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

After replacing and programming the Body Control Module (BCM), the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) may be inoperative. This could be the result of the steps taken when programming a new BCM.

Recommendation/Instructions:

When replacing a BCM and programming, it is necessary to perform the "BCM Set Up" prior to performing "Program VIN". If "Program VIN" is performed first, the BCM will be locked and the Tech 2 will no longer have the ability to select Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) during the "BCM Set Up". If the programming steps were not performed in the order listed below, the only repair is to replace the BCM and program it correctly.

1st Perform "BCM Set Up"

2nd Perform "Program VIN"

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
