This PI was updated to include model years upto 2007. Please discard PIC3397A.

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

After replacement of the Driver Position Module (DPM) or the telescope actuator, the soft stops must be relearned or the telescope wheel will be inoperative.

Recommendation/Instructions:

To relearn the new soft stops after a DPM (Drivers Position Module) or telescope actuator replacement, use the Tech 2 scan tool and access the following menu: Select Model Year/2004-2007 > YB > Body and Accessories > Seats > Module Setup > Drivers Position Module > DPM Setup and follow the on screen instruction on the Tech 2. At the beginning of the calibration procedure, the Driver Seat Module will move the Driver Seat Horizontal position ¾ to all the way back before the Column control begins.

Note: The following Items may inhibit the DPM from relearning the soft stops.

  1. If any Manual Control Switch for either the Seat or Steering Column is activated while the calibration Procedure is in process.
  2. If any Memory Recall Switch for either the Seat or Steering Column is activated while the calibration Procedure is in process
  3. If Telescoping Column Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) or the Horizontal Seat DTCs are set before or while the calibration is in progress.
  4. The transmission must be in the park position on automatic transmissions or the park brake needs to be applied on vehicles equipped with a manual transmission

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
