Preliminary Procedures

  1. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .
  2. Remove the water pump and generator drive belt. Refer to Water Pump and Generator Belt Replacement .
  3. Remove the supercharger drive belt. Refer to Supercharger Belt Replacement .
  4. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .

Air Conditioner Drive Belt Tensioner Bolt

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

Tip
Access this bolt from under the vehicle.

Tighten
25 N·m (18 lb ft)

Air Conditioner Drive Belt Tensioner Assembly

Tip

    • Rotate the tensioner in a clockwise direction during belt removal and installation.
    • Relieve the tension, rotate the belt slack downward and remove the drive belt from the air conditioning compressor pulley.
    • Use care not to pinch the belt between the tensioner pulley and the air conditioning compressor pulley.
    • Remove the tensioner assembly in order to remove the drive belt from the vehicle.

Air Conditioning and Power Steering Drive Belt

Tip

    • Rotate the tensioner in a clockwise direction during belt removal and installation.
    • Relieve the tension, rotate the belt slack downward and remove the drive belt from the air conditioning compressor pulley.
    • Remove the tensioner assembly in order to remove the drive belt from the vehicle.
    • Ensure the drive belt is properly aligned and seated into the grooves of the accessory drive pulleys.
