Removal Procedure
- Remove the left engine mount bracket. Refer to Engine Mount Bracket Replacement - Left Side .
- Disconnect the engine oil cooler lines from the adapter.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the engine oil pressure switch.
- Place a suitable drain pan under the vehicle.
- Remove the oil filter.
- Remove the oil filter adapter mounting bolts.
- Remove the oil filter adapter and discard the gasket.
- Disassemble the oil filter adapter as necessary. Refer to Oil Filter Adapter Disassemble .
- Clean and inspect the oil filter adapter. Refer to Oil Filter Adapter Cleaning and Inspection .
Installation Procedure
- Assemble the oil filter adapter as necessary. Refer to Oil Filter Adapter Assemble .
- Install a new gasket to the oil filter adapter.
- Apply 10 drops of high-strength, high-temperature threadlocker to the engine oil filter adapter pipe fittings. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers .
- Install the oil filter adapter to the engine block.
- Install the oil filter adapter bolts.
- Lightly oil the oil filter gasket with clean oil.
- Install the oil filter. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement .
- Connect the electrical connector to the engine oil pressure switch.
- Connect the engine oil cooler lines to the adapter.
- Install the left engine mount bracket. Refer to Engine Mount Bracket Replacement - Left Side .
- Lower the vehicle.
- Adjust the engine oil level to the full mark.
- Inspect for oil leaks after engine start up.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
Tighten
Tighten the oil filter adapter bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
Important: Fill the oil filter with engine oil.
