Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

Go to Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle

Open the rear compartment.

Is the trunk ajar message displayed?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

Go to Step 3

1. Install a scan tool.
2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
3. Open the rear compartment.
4. With a scan tool observe the trunk ajar switch signal input in the body control module (BCM) data list.

Does the scan tool indicate the trunk ajar switch signal is active?

Go to Step 9

Go to Step 4

1. Disconnect the rear compartment pull down actuator.
2. Connect a fused jumper between the trunk ajar switch signal circuit and a good ground.

Is the trunk ajar message displayed?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 7

Connect a fused jumper between the rear compartment lid ajar switch signal and ground circuits.

Is the trunk ajar message displayed?

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 8

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the rear compartment lid pull down actuator. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 12

Go to Step 10

Inspect for an open or high resistance in the trunk ajar switch signal circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 12

Go to Step 11

Repair open or high resistance in the ground circuit of the rear compartment lid pull down actuator. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 12

Replace the instrument panel cluster (IPC) message center. Refer to Control Module References for replacement, setup, and programming.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 12

Replace the rear compartment lid pull down actuator. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Pulldown Switch Replacement .

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 12

Replace the BCM. Refer to Control Module References for replacement, setup, and programming.

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 12

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Did you correct the condition?

System OK
