Circuit/System Testing

With OnStar®

  1. Verify the OnStar® voice recognition is operating normally.
  2. If the OnStar® voice recognition is inoperative, refer to OnStar Voice Recognition Inoperative .
  3. Ignition OFF, disconnect the radio harness connector C2 and VCIM harness connector X3.
  4. Test for less than 1 volt on the C2 radio harness connector terminals 1and 2.
  5. If greater than specified value, repair short to voltage.
  6. Test for greater than 1 ohm between the C2 radio harness connector terminal 1and ground.
  7. If less than specified value, repair short to ground.
  8. Test for greater than 1 ohm between the C2 radio harness connector terminal 2 and ground.
  9. If less than specified value, repair short to ground.
  10. Test for less than 1 ohm between the C2 radio harness connector terminal 1 and the VCIM harness connector terminal 2.
  11. If greater than specified value, repair open circuit.
  12. Test for less than 1 ohm between the C2 radio harness connector terminal 2 and the VCIM harness connector terminal 4.
  13. If greater than specified value, repair open circuit.
  14. If all circuits test normal, replace the radio.

Without OnStar®

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the voice recognition microphone harness connector and C2 radio harness connector.
  2. Test for less than 1 volt on the voice recognition microphone harness connector terminals 3 and 2.
  3. If greater than specified value, repair short to voltage.
  4. Test for greater than 1 ohm between the voice recognition microphone harness connector terminal 3 and ground.
  5. If less than specified value, repair short to ground.
  6. Test for greater than 1 ohm between the voice recognition microphone harness connector terminal 2 and ground.
  7. If less than specified value, repair short to ground.
  8. Test for less than 1 ohm between the C2 radio harness connector terminal 1 and the voice recognition microphone harness connector terminal 3.
  9. If greater than specified value, repair open circuit.
  10. Test for less than 1 ohm between the C2 radio harness connector terminal 2 and the voice recognition microphone harness connector terminal 2.
  11. If greater than specified value, repair open circuit.
  12. If all circuits test normal, replace the voice recognition microphone.

Repair Instructions
