GM Service Manual Online

Important: The power windows will not work properly if the battery on the vehicle has been disconnected, or loses power with the door open and the window down. The window switch door module must be reinitialized once power is restored. Follow these steps to reinitialize the module, and restore proper function to the windows, and switches.

Door Module Initialization Procedure

  1. Close the door.
  2. Raise the window by holding the up arrow on the power window switch.
  3. Hold the up arrow for three seconds after the window is closed.
  4. Release the switch.
  5. Hold the up arrow again for three seconds.

Keep in mind that nothing can be obstructing the window from closing or opening. If you continue the initialization, the window will only Express-Up or Express-Down, to the spot where the obstruction occurred. The Express features will not work until the system has been reinitialized.
