Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the seat from the vehicle. Refer to Driver and Passenger Seat Replacement .
  2. Remove the seat back insert. Refer to Driver Seat Back Insert Cover Pad Replacement or to Passenger Seat Back Insert Cover Pad Replacement .
  3. Remove the seat speaker grilles. Refer to Driver Seat Head Restraint Speaker Grille Replacement .
  4. Remove the seat speakers. Refer to Driver Seat Head Restraint Speaker Replacement or to Passenger Seat Head Restraint Speaker Replacement .
  5. Remove the J-hooks that secure the seat back cover to the bottom of the seat back.
  6. Remove the fir tree retainers that secure the seat back cover to the seat back frame.

    7. Important: There is a first and second design available for the seat back cushion cover and both are serviced with the second design cover.

  7. perform the following steps to remove and install the seat back cover.
    8. • The first design cover requires the removal of the side impact inflatable restraint from the seat to remove the cover and pad assembly. Refer to Driver and Passenger Seat Side Inflatable Restraint Module Replacement.
    • The second design does not require the removal of the side impact inflatable restraint for cover and pad removal, the cover can be removed by sliding over the inflatable restraint.

  8. Remove the seat back trim cover from the seat, starting at the lower inboard side of the seat back and working the cover up and over the foam.
  9. Remove the seat back cover.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the seat back cover.
  2. Install the seat back trim cover over the seat back working the cover down and over the foam.

    3. Important: The first and second design cover are replaceable with the second design.

  3. When replacing the first design cover with the second design, the side impact inflatable restraint must be installed prior to the cover and pad installation. Refer to Driver and Passenger Seat Side Inflatable Restraint Module Replacement .
  4. Install the fir tree retainers that secure the seat back cover to the seat back frame.
  5. Install the J-hooks that secure the seat back cover to the bottom of the seat back.
  6. Install the seat speakers. Refer to Driver Seat Head Restraint Speaker Replacement or to Passenger Seat Head Restraint Speaker Replacement .
  7. Install the seat speaker grilles. Refer to Driver Seat Head Restraint Speaker Grille Replacement .
  8. Install the seat back insert. Refer to Driver Seat Back Insert Cover Pad Replacement or to Passenger Seat Back Insert Cover Pad Replacement .
  9. Install the seat to the vehicle. Refer to Driver and Passenger Seat Replacement .
