Subject:Steering Wheel Controls Do Not Work Correctly After Navigation Radio Replacement

Models:2006-2007 XLR-V Series Only



The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Some customers may comment that the steering wheel controls do not seem to operate the correct functions after the Navigation radio was serviced for an unrelated concern. The steering wheel controls may function as follows... "Voice Rec & Source" now controls radio volume, "Volume" button will now work as a seek function, "Preset" button changes the source, "Seek" and "Mute" buttons works normal. The Navigation radio is service with the CD changer as an assembly. The CD changer may not have the correct software and will cause the steering wheel controls not to function correctly.

Recommendation/Instructions:

Replace the Navigation Radio/CD changer with current stock from your local exchange center. All exchange center stock has been sorted to prevent this concern.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
