Change Made To The 2007 Model Year Keyfob - keywords detected engine fob ignition inoperative key no off on program RCDLR receiver RKE transmitter

This PI was superseded to advise fobs are now available. Please discard PIC4350.

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Some customers may comment that the keyfob they received with their new 2007 vehicle does not match the photo shown in the customer's owners manual.

The key fob shown in the customer's 2007 owners manual (or the second image shown below) did not go into production vehicles until 2008 model year. The keyfob in the first image below is the correct keyfob for all 2007 and prior model vehicles. An insert was placed in all production vehicles owners manual stating this change.

Some 2007 General Motors internal Fleet vehicles may have been equipped with the new style key fob below. If this fob is serviced/replaced for any reason, the fob shown above will be the replacement part. This will only be a concern when a General Motors Fleet vehicle is purchased by a Dealer at an Auction.

Note: If the customer chooses to use this new style keyfob (in the image above) in a 2007 model year vehicle, it can be used at a cost to the customer, not General Motors.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
