  1. Power Door Latch System Malfunction
  2. Power Door Locks Inoperative

Circuit/System Description

The driver door lock switch lock and unlock signal circuits provide inputs to the driver door switch when the driver door lock switch is activated to the Lock or Unlock position. These inputs allow the driver door switch to detect a door Lock or Unlock request. The driver door switch provides power to the driver door lock switch. When the driver door switch detects low voltage on a signal circuit, the driver door switch will send a serial data message to the remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR) to enter the power door latches in Lock or Unlock status. The driver door switch monitors the signal circuits to determine how long the ground has been applied.

Conditions for Running the DTC

Battery voltage must be between 9-16 volts.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The driver door switch detects a short to ground on the driver door lock switch lock or unlock signal circuit for greater than 30 seconds.

Actions Taken When the DTC Sets

The driver door switch will malfunction.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • The DTC will be current for as long as the fault is present.
    • When the fault is no longer present, the DTC will be a history DTC.
    • A history DTC will clear after 50 ignition cycles.

Circuit/System Verification

Ignition ON, observe the scan tool Door Lock Switch parameter while using the driver door lock switch. The parameter should change from Idle to Lock and Unlock when changing between the commanded states.

Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the driver door lock switch.
  2. Verify that a test lamp illuminates between B+ and the ground circuit terminal C.
  3. If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  4. Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Door Lock Switch parameter is Idle.
  5. If not the specified value, test the signal circuit listed below for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the driver window switch.
    • Signal circuit terminal D
    • Signal circuit terminal E
  6. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the driver door lock switch.

Component Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the driver door lock switch.
  2. Test for infinite resistance between the signal terminals D and E and the ground terminal C with the switch in the open position.
  3. If less than the specified value, replace the driver door lock switch.
  4. Test for less than 2 ohms between the signal terminal E and the ground terminal C with the switch in the unlock position.
  5. If greater than the specified range, replace the driver door lock switch.
  6. Test for less than 2 ohms between the signal terminal D and the ground terminal C with the switch in the lock position.
  7. If greater than the specified range, replace the driver door lock switch.

Repair Instructions

Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the diagnostic procedure.

    •  Front Side Door Window Switch Replacement - Left Side
    •  Door Lock Switch Replacement - Driver Door
