1. Fuel Door Release Malfunction |
The FUEL DR relay switch and coil terminals are supplied with battery voltage at all times via the DR CNTRLS circuit breaker. When the fuel door release switch is activated, ground is applied to the coil side of the FUEL DR relay. This energizes the coil causing the switch contacts to close. With the switch contacts closed, battery voltage is supplied to the fuel door release actuator, releasing the fuel door.
Fuel Fill Door Description and Operation
Command the fuel door to release by pressing the fuel door release switch. The fuel door release actuator should release the fuel door.
⇒ | If the test lamp illuminates, test the control circuit for a short to voltage. |
⇒ | If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. |
⇒ | If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. |
⇒ | If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance. |
⇒ | If the fuel door release actuator does not activate, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the fuel door release actuator. |
⇒ | If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance. |
⇒ | If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the fuel door release switch. |
⇒ | If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the fuel door release switch. |
⇒ | If not within the specified range, replace the relay. |

⇒ | If not the specified value, replace the relay. |
⇒ | If greater than the specified range, replace the relay. |
⇒ | If the actuator does not perform as specified, replace the fuel door release actuator. |
⇒ | If not the specified value, replace the fuel door release switch. |
⇒ | If greater than the specified range, replace the fuel door release switch. |
