Circuit/System Description

The folding top control (FTC) module checks the integrity of the signal circuit from the rear compartment lid pulldown actuator at least once every 300 milliseconds. The rear compartment lid pulldown actuator has a constant battery positive voltage supplied. During truck or folding top operation, the rear compartment lid pull down actuator will apply the battery positive voltage to the FTC module. The FTC uses this signal as assurance that the latch is clear of the striker.

Conditions for Running the DTC

    • Battery voltage must be between 9-16 volts.
    • DTC B1327 is not set as current.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

    • The FTC module detects a short to voltage in the rear compartment lid pulldown actuator circuit when the rear compartment lid is not ajar.
    • The FTC module detects an open or high resistance in the rear compartment lid pulldown actuator circuit for greater than 5 seconds when the rear compartment lid is ajar.

Actions Taken When the DTC Sets

The rear compartment lid pulldown feature and folding top operation will malfunction

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • The condition responsible for setting the DTC no longer exists.
    • A history DTC will clear once 50 consecutive malfunction-free ignition cycles have occurred.

Circuit/System Verification

Ignition ON, observe the scan tool Rear Compartment Lid Pull Down Switch parameter while opening and closing the rear compartment lid. The parameter should change between Inactive and Active

Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the rear compartment lid pull down actuator.
  2. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal H and ground.
  3. If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
  4. Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Rear Compartment Lid Pull Down Switch parameter is Inactive.
  5. If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal C for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the FTC module.
  6. Install a 3A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal C and the B+ circuit terminal H. Verify the scan tool Rear Compartment Lid Pull Down Switch parameter is Active.
  7. If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal C for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the FTC module.
  8. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the rear compartment lid pulldown actuator.

Component Testing

Rear Compartment Lid Pulldown Actuator

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the rear compartment lid pulldown actuator.
  2. Test for infinite resistance between the B+ terminal H and the signal terminal C with the switch in the open position.
  3. If not the specified value, replace the rear compartment lid pulldown actuator.
  4. Test for less than 2 ohms between the B+ terminal H and the signal terminal C with the switch in the closed position.
  5. If greater than the specified range, replace the rear compartment lid pulldown actuator.
