Subject: | Key is Difficult to remove from Key Fob |
Models: | 2008 Cadillac XLR and V-Series |
| 2008 Cadillac CTS (with Keyless Access) |
| 2008 Chevrolet Corvette and Z06 |
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
Some customers may comment that the key base is difficult to remove from the key fob. This may be the result of the customer not pressing the release button on the fob to properly remove the key.
Recommendation/Instructions:
When removing the key from the bottom of the fob, it is necessary to press the button labeled "A" in the figure below. Failure to do so will damage the retaining mechanism and therefore prevent the key from locking into the bottom of the key fob. The only
repair is to replace the key fob and advise the customer how to properly release the key from the fob.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
