Models:2004-2008 Cadillac XLR, V-Series and Platinum Series



The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Some customers may comment that the clock on the Navigation Radio moves ahead 1 hour unwanted. This may be due to a concern within the Navigation Radio. First here are some operating characteristics of the Navigation Radio's clock.

  1. Once the clock is manually adjusted, it will no longer update based on "GPS Time".
  2. If the customer would like the clock to update by "GPS Time", it will be necessary to access the "Clock Adjust Screen" and press the "GPS Time" button. Now the clock will return to update with GPS time.
  3. If the customer is traveling or lives near a time zone marker, The clock will not update automatically based on the "Time Zone" the vehicle is in.
  4. The Navigation radio itself has an internal battery. If the radio was disconnected from the vehicle or the vehicles battery went dead, the radio will recall its clock settings stored.

Recommendation/Instructions:

Please be certain the customer understands the clock operation within the Navigation Radio. Engineering is looking into the concern of the clock displaying 1 hour fast. Until a resolution is available for the clock displaying 1 hour fast, no repairs are recommended. Replacing the Navigation Radio will NOT correct this concern.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
