Models:2004-2008 Cadillac XLR and V-Series
2005-2008 Chevrolet Corvette

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

When one of the vehicles listed above exhibits a discharged battery, technicians typically want to back feed the electrical system so a key fob can be utilized to enter the vehicle. Back feeding the vehicle's electrical system may cause damage to a module or another electrical device and it is not recommended by engineering.

Recommendation/Instructions:

It is recommended NOT to back feed the vehicle's electrical system in order to gain access to the vehicle. Obtaining a new key that will open the rear compartment is the proper procedure. Once the rear compartment is open, the door release cable can be accessed.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
