The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Some customers may experience a ABS lamp on with a DTC C0820 set in the Electronic Brake Control Module. This may be due to a loose ground in the engine compartment.

Recommendation/Instructions:

  1. With the "Ignition OFF", verify ground continuity from the EBCM Grounds to Battery ground G104 and G106. Test for less than 1 ohm of resistance. Isolate any high resistance in the ground wire(s) and repair as necessary.
  2. Perform a Voltage drop test on both ground G104 and G106. The drop should not exceed more than.5 volt. Isolate and repair any voltage drop that exceeds a half volt.
  3. Inspect and secure G104 and/or G106. These two grounds are not for the EBCM, but if left loose they can back feed and cause this DTC to set. Before suspecting the EBCM for this concern, verify grounds G104 and/or G106 are secured.

Note: The other end of G104 and G106, are formed into the negative battery cable end. Gently pull on these cables to be sure they are secured and not loose in the battery cable end.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
