Removal Procedure

  1. Ensure that the park brake is in the full returned position.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  3. Remove the rear tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.

  4. Object Number: 64001  Size: SH
  5. Disconnect the rear park brake cables from the left and right park brake actuators.
  6. Remove the LH lower closeout panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side.
  7. Remove the instrument panel cluster (IPC). Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement.

  9. Remove the park brake assembly attaching nuts (1) and bolt (2).

  10. Object Number: 658944  Size: SH
  11. Disconnect the park brake switch electrical connector.
  12. Disconnect the park brake release solenoid electrical connector.

  13. Object Number: 1237668  Size: SH
  14. Rotate the park brake actuator cable tensioning spring (1) and secure.

  15. Object Number: 1237663  Size: SH
  16. Disconnect the front park brake cable from the pedal assembly.
  17. Remove the park brake pedal assembly.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1237663  Size: SH
  1. Install the front park brake cable into the park brake pedal assembly.
  2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Install the park brake pedal assembly retaining nuts and bolt and tighten to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
  4. Connect the park brake release solenoid electrical connector.

  5. Object Number: 658944  Size: SH
  6. Connect the park brake switch electrical connector.
  7. Raise the vehicle.

  8. Object Number: 64001  Size: SH
  9. Connect the rear cables to the left and right park brake actuators.
  10. Install the rear tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  11. Lower the vehicle.
  12. Release tension from the cable tensioning spring.
  13. Install the IPC. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement.
  14. Install the LH lower closeout panel.
  15. Apply the park brake pedal and release 2-3 times, to assure proper function of the park brake system.
