Makes 🢒 Cadillac 🢒 2009 🢒 XLR 🢒 Body Hardware and Trim 🢒 Instrument Panel and Console Trim 🢒 Steering Column Bracket Replacement

Removal Procedure
  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling.

    2. Warning: Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning in the Preface section.

  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Remove the console. Refer to Console Replacement.
  4. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) carrier. Refer to Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement.
  5. Tilt the steering wheel to the lowest position.
  6. Remove the upper and lower nuts retaining the steering column to the steering column bracket. Carefully rest the steering column on the I/P lower support beam. Refer to Steering Column Replacement.
  7. Remove the left windshield side garnish molding. Refer to Windshield Side Garnish Molding Replacement.

  8. Remove the accelerator pedal assembly with the accelerator pedal position sensor. Refer to Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor Replacement.
  9. Disconnect the brake master cylinder push rod from the brake pedal.
  10. Remove the brake booster mounting nuts.

  11. Remove the mounting bolts from the cruise control release switch bracket.
  12. Reposition the cruise control release switch and the bracket.

  13. Disconnect the master cylinder push rod from the clutch pedal.

    Note: The following step assures proper trim fit during installation.

  14. Mark the location of the steering column bracket.
  15. Remove the bolts which secure the steering column bracket to the I/P lower support beam.

  16. Remove the bolts which secure the steering column bracket to the I/P upper support beam.
  17. Remove the steering column bracket.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 95663 Size: SH
  1. Install the steering column bracket into position as marked prior to removal.
  2. Install the bolts which secure the steering column bracket to the I/P upper support beam. Do NOT tighten the bolts.

    3. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 95665 Size: SH
  3. Install the bolts which secure the steering column bracket to the I/P lower support beam and tighten to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

    4. Object Number: 71474 Size: SH
  4. Connect the master cylinder push rod to the clutch pedal.

    5. Object Number: 71494 Size: SH
  5. Position the cruise control release switch and bracket to the steering column bracket.
  6. Install the bracket bolts to the cruise control release switch and tighten to 12 N·m (106 lb in)

    7. Object Number: 174198 Size: SH
  7. Install the brake booster nuts and tighten to 29 N·m (21 lb ft).
  8. Connect the master cylinder push rod to the brake pedal.
  9. Install the accelerator pedal assembly with accelerator pedal position sensor. Refer to Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor Replacement.
  10. Install the left windshield side garnish molding. Refer to Windshield Side Garnish Molding Replacement.
  11. Install the steering column to the steering column bracket. Refer to Steering Column Replacement.
  12. Install the console. Refer to Console Replacement.
  13. Install the I/P carrier. Refer to Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement.
  14. Connect the negative battery cable and install the cable bolt and tighten to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).
  15. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling.
