Hood Replacement for Cadillac XLR 2009

1. Open the hood.
2. Remove the hood insulator. Refer to Hood Insulator Replacement.
3. Disconnect the underhood lamp electrical connector.

Warning: Refer to Hood Hold-Open Device Warning in the Preface section.

4. Remove the hood assist rod from the hood side with the aid of an assistant. Refer to Hood Open Assist Rod Replacement.



5. Remove the hood bolts (1) securing the upper hood hinge to the hood (2) with the aid of an assistant.
6. Remove the hood (2) from the vehicle, with the aid of an assistant.

1. Install the hood (2) to the vehicle with the aid of an assistant.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

2. Install the hood bolts (1) securing the upper hood hinge to the hood (2) and tighten to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
3. Install the hood assist rod to the hood side. Refer to Hood Open Assist Rod Replacement.
4. Connect the underhood lamp connector.
5. Install the hood insulator. Refer to Hood Insulator Replacement.
6. Close the hood.
