Removal Procedure
  1. Open the hood.

    2. Warning: Refer to Hood Hold-Open Device Warning in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1215662 Size: SH
  2. Release the clip retaining the hood assist rod to the lower hood assist rod ball stud. Refer to Hood Open Assist Rod Replacement.
  3. Remove the lower hood assist rod ball stud (1) from the front structure (2).

Installation Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1215662 Size: SH
  1. Install the lower hood assist rod ball stud (1) to the front structure (2) and tighten to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
  2. Install the hood assist rod. Refer to Hood Open Assist Rod Replacement.
  3. Insure that the clip is fully seated on the hood assist rod.
  4. Close the hood.
