Cleaning Procedure
- Clean the oil pan components with solvent.
Warning: Refer to Safety Glasses Warning in the Preface section.
- Dry the oil pan components with compressed air.
Inspection Procedure
- Inspect the exterior of the oil pan for the following conditions:
• | The drain plug hole (1) for damaged threads |
• | The transmission mounting holes (2) for damaged threads |
• | The oil level switch hole (3) for damaged threads |
• | The exterior surfaces (4) for dents or damage. An oil pan that is damaged or dented may interfere with the position of the oil pump screen or interfere with oil distribution in the oil pan sump area. |
- Inspect the interior of the oil pan for the following conditions:
• | Gouges or damage to the oil pan sealing surface (1) |
• | Damage to the oil pan baffle, baffle bolts and baffle mounting features (2) |
• | Damage to the oil pan bolt holes (3) |
- Repair or replace the oil pan as necessary.
