Auxiliary Air Conditioning Compressor and Condenser Hose Replacement C60
Removal Procedure
- Remove the air cleaner. Refer to
Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement
in Engine Controls.
- Discharge and recover the refrigerant from the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Remove the grille. Refer to
Grille Replacement
in Exterior Trim.
- Remove the hose clamp
bracket nut (3) from the engine stud.
- Remove the compressor
and condenser hose bolt from the compressor.
- Remove the old sealing washers from the compressor if still attached.
Refer to
Compressor Sealing Washers Replacement
.
- Remove the compressor
and condenser hose nut (6) from the condenser.
- Remove the compressor and condenser hose nut (1) from the accumulator.
- Remove the compressor and condenser hose from the vehicle.
- Cap or plug all open connections.
Installation Procedure
- Uncap or plug all open connections.
- When installing the compressor and condenser hose do the following:
2.1. | Coat the new sealing washers and O-rings with a coat of 525 viscosity
refrigerant oil. |
2.2. | Install new O-ring seals to the compressor and condenser hose
ends. |
2.3. | Install new seal washers to the Compressor. |
- Install the compressor and condenser hose to the vehicle.
- Install the sealing washers. Refer to
Compressor Sealing Washers Replacement
.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the compressor
and condenser hose nut (1) to the accumulator.
Tighten
Tighten the compressor and condenser hose nut (1) to the accumulator
to 48 N·m (35 lb ft).
- Install the compressor and condenser hose nut (6) to the condenser.
Tighten
Tighten the compressor and condenser hose nut to the condenser to 27.5 N·m
(26 lb ft).
- Install the compressor
and condenser hose bolt to the compressor.
Tighten
Tighten the compressor and condenser hose bolt to the compressor to
35 N·m (26 lb ft).
- Install the hose clamp
bracket nut (3) to the engine stud.
Tighten
Tighten the hose clamp bracket nut (3) to the engine stud to 5 N·m
(44 lb in).
- Install the grille. Refer to
Grille Replacement
in Exterior Trim.
- Evacuate and charge the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
- Ensure that no leaks exist in the system.
- Install the air cleaner. Refer to
Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement
in Engine Controls.

Removal Procedure
- Remove the air cleaner. Refer to

in Engine Controls.
- Discharge and recover the refrigerant from the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging

- Remove the grille. Refer to

in Exterior Trim.
- Disconnect the auxiliary
evaporator lines nut from the compressor and condenser hose.
- Remove the hose clamp
bracket nut (3) from the engine stud.
- Remove the compressor
and condenser hose bolt from the compressor.
- Remove the old sealing washers from the compressor if still attached.

- Remove the compressor
and condenser hose nut (6) from the condenser.
- Remove the compressor and condenser hose nut (1) from the accumulator.
- Remove the compressor and condenser hose from the vehicle.

- Install the hose clamp
bracket nut (3) to the engine stud.
Tighten
Tighten the hose clamp bracket nut (3) to the engine stud to 5 N·m
(44 lb in).
- Connect the auxiliary
evaporator line nut to the compressor and condenser hose.
Tighten
Tighten the auxiliary evaporator line nut to the compressor and condenser
hose to 27.5 N·m (26 lb ft).
- Install the grille. Refer to
Grille Replacement
in Exterior Trim.
- Evacuate and charge the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
- Ensure that no leaks exist in the system.
- Install the air cleaner. Refer to

- Remove the nut from the
auxiliary evaporator line support.
- Disconnect the nut from the compressor and condenser hose auxiliary
evaporator line.
- Remove the hose clamp
bracket nut (3) from the engine stud.
- Remove the compressor
and condenser hose bolt from the compressor.
- Remove the old sealing washers from the compressor if still attached.

- Remove the compressor
and condenser hose nut (6) from the condenser.
- Remove the compressor and condenser hose nut (1) from the accumulator.
- Remove the compressor and condenser hose from the vehicle.

bracket nut (3)
to the engine stud.
Tighten
Tighten the hose clamp bracket nut (3) to the engine stud to 5 N·m
(44 lb in).
- Install the nut to the
auxiliary evaporator line support.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to the auxiliary evaporator line support to 5 N·m
(44 lb in).
- Connect the auxiliary evaporator line nut to the compressor and
condenser hose .
Tighten
Tighten the auxiliary evaporator line nut to the compressor and condenser
hose to 48 N·m (35 lb ft).
- Install the grille. Refer to
Grille Replacement
in Exterior Trim.
- Evacuate and charge the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
- Ensure that no leaks exist in the system.
- Install the air cleaner. Refer to
Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement
in Engine Controls.
