Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the air cleaner. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls.

  2. Object Number: 280271  Size: SH
  3. Remove the electrical connectors.
  4. Remove the coolant recovery and windshield washer fluid reservoir assembly. Refer to Coolant Recovery Reservoir Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  5. Remove the 2 screws that retain the cover in the blower motor area.
  6. Important: Retain this piece of the acoustic cover for reassembly.

  7. Cut the acoustic cover between the 5 clip lands.
  8. Remove the cooling tube from the motor.
  9. Remove the screws that retain the blower motor to the case.
  10. Remove the blower motor from the case.
  11. Inspect the flange of the blower motor for damage or distortion.
  12. Important: Damage or distortion will cause an air leak.

  13. Repair the flange as necessary.
  14. Inspect the blower fan for damage and distortion.
  15. Repair or replace the blower fan as necessary.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 280271  Size: SH
  1. Install the blower motor to the case.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the screws that retain the blower motor to the case.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the screws that retain the blower motor to the case to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  5. Install the cooling tube to the motor.
  6. Install the acoustic cover over the blower motor.
  7. Install the 2 screws that retain the cover to the case.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the screws that retain the cover to the case to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  9. Attach the 5 clips to the 5 clip lands in order to hold the motor and the case covers together.
  10. Install the coolant recovery and the windshield washer fluid reservoir assembly. Refer Coolant Recovery Reservoir Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  11. Install the electrical connectors.
  12. Ensure the circuit operation.
  13. Install the air cleaner. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls.
